The spectacular new trailer for director Jason Reitman‘s latest film Up in the Air has arrived. Although we seem to be raving about a bunch of trailers at the moment, this is truly one of the most unique and special we’ve seen of late.

The film stars George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert who travels the country to fire employees for cowardly bosses. He savours the anonymity of the traveller’s lifestyle but hates his job. With his letter of resignation waiting on his own boss’ desk, Ryan attempts to cross the coveted One Million Frequent Flyer Miles barrier.

Up in the Air is based on the acclaimed novel by Walter Kirn. Reitman previously directed the similarly-themed corporate satire Thank You For Smoking and the wonderful Juno (for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Director).

Check out the trailer below and savour the goodness:

I’m reading Kirn’s novel at the moment and am immensely enjoying myself. I love how the book’s vibe has been perfectly captured in this short trailer and I have nothing but faith in a Reitman adaptation.

Up in the Air was screened at the Telluride film festival and the Toronto International Film Festival last week to rave reviews. It will receive a wide release in the U.S. this November.

The film also stars Anna Kendrick, Vera Farmiga and Jason Bateman.

Up in the Air opens in Australian cinemas January 21, 2010.

Discuss: I have a lot of love for trailers that DON’T give away the film’s entire plot. Which trailers do you love?
